Oversee all use and maintenance of electronic Prepress systems and software.  Develops and conducts training for staff and customers on new technologies and systems enhancements.  Directs staff in use of departmental systems and software.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following prioritized and categorized duties.  Other duties may be assigned.

Systems Maintenance

  • Maintain all Prepress systems (including but not limited to: Prinergy, Kodak InsSite Prepress portal, EFI Fiery XF, G& compliance, HP IndigoTrendsetters, renderers, servers, hubs/switches, printers, proofing devices and workstations)
  • Be on call for all systems related troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for all file systems including back up and archiving.
  • Implement and maintain web based prepress services (Synapse Insite)
  • Coordinate systems integration with Navistar MIS department.
  • Understanding of the G7 specification and how it is applied at Navistar
  • Archive and catalog customer job files


Technology Acquisition

  • Work directly with vendors to acquire and maintain service contracts on all electronic prepress systems.
  • Prepare proposals for equipment and software purchases.
  • Maintain and purchase all workstation software as needed.


Technological Information & Training

  • Research emerging technologies and recommend purchases.
  • Train departmental staff on software and equipment as needed.
  • Direct all department personnel in use of prepress systems hardware and software.
  • Must participate in on and off site training associated with new and existing prepress systems.
  • Recommend and train prepress staff.



  • Possess the knowledge and abilities to act in the role of a Prepress supervisor.
  • Participate in company wide color management initiative.
  • Participate in user groups, industry associations and electronic forums.

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training in Prepress operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Familiar with RBA (Rules based automation), Harmony and Color Flow, G7 specifications, Smartstream Designer software, Ricoh C720 printer, EPSON P9000 SureColor Inkjet printer, and HP Indigo.

Must be authorized to work in the United States and successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background investigation.
