Job Summary

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers concerned with receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing and shipping materials, supplies, and equipment in warehouse by performing the following duties.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises 6 or more employees in the Warehousing Department
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems


  • Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems
  • Studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow moving, and excess stock
  • Unloads incoming trucks, makes sure that way-bills match P.O.s and materials are marked with P.O. number
  • Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock levels
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies
  • Ensures that personnel are maximizing their time
  • Strives to increase productivity
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates
  • Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures
  • Stocks racks with incoming materials
  • Moves full and empty waste cans and cartons to and from presses to bailer. Loads trailer with bailer. Loads trailer with bails
  • Trains and cross trains personnel on department procedures and equipment
  • Collects rags from different departments and take to shipping area
  • Takes inventory monthly
  • Checks to make sure paperwork from incoming trucks is distributed to correct personnel
  • Monitors department for compliance safety regulations
  • Ensures work areas are neat and orderly to avoid accidents
  • Educates employees on department safety
  • Reports all injuries and completes necessary paperwork for worker's compensation reporting
  • Performs other duties as required

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Forklift Certified

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles
  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
